Teacher Feature Tuesday....and a Pencil UPDATE!!!

Welcome to our Teacher Feature!  A time for us to get to know other teachers a little better!  This week we have Tara Ward from...."...And they all fall down"!!!

Tara Ward

1.  How long have you been teaching and what grades (background).
This is my 11th year teaching – I have spent 6 years in first grade, 2 years in second grade, a year in fourth, and one year as a pull-out EIP teacher. This year I am teaching ESOL pull-out to grades K-5. I have worked general education with SPED, ELL, and QUEST inclusion for many years.

2.  Name of Blog and address.
My blog is - …and they all fall down… (http://www.t11w.blogspot.com)

3.  Favorite thing to create and share with fellow teachers!
My favorite things to create are the literature circle units. I have a specialization in reading and I’m not a big fan of basal readers, so I try to make authentic literature accessible and fun for teachers to use in place of the reading books!

4.  Biggest inspiration?
My ELL’s and SPED students have been my biggest inspiration. I am constantly amazed by how much they can accomplish with the right support.

5.  Featured Product:  Free or Paid
Free –Gator Chompin’ Math Game

6.  Link to TpT Store or TN Store

7.  Tell us about your OUT OF THE CLASSROOM life!
I have two amazing children that keep me on my toes! G1 is 8 and G2 is 3. (My kiddos have the same initials, so I nicknamed them g1 and g2…it’s faster than remembering their name sometimes…depending on the damage…) I love to scrapbook and be creative; sew, make jewelry, make magnets…

8.  Most embarrassing teaching moment!!! Come on girls we all have one!
Gosh – being pregnant with G2 – and being sick … all the time! I used to run out my back door and throw up at all hours of the day. I was pretty slick at hiding it for a while, but my kids caught on and would yell – “Oh no, she’s puking again!” Whoever called it ‘morning’ sickness….LIED!

Thank you Tara for sharing!  Yall be sure to check out her blog and her store!!!!

And NOW!!!  The Mysterious Pencil Delimma UPDATE!!!!

Day Three:  All  Student Pencils were turned in and accounted for....ALL IN ONE PIECE and FUNCTIONAL!!!  WOOOOO HOOO!!!!

Blessings!!!

  2. You know Tara, the pencil thing kinda hit me smack in my forehead!! I spent all this time lecturing on taking care of supplies and such but the truth is the are 6! They don't care if I spent five dollars on a box of pencils....the kids I teach think Mrs. Shipley is rich compared to their home lives. Oh how wrong they are!! So....I had to find a reason to make them care....a viola!! But it's only three days...I see the light though!!
