Weekly Wrap Up a BIG SHOUT OUT....and Pencil Mayhem Update!

Well the end of the week came so fast!  This week was a big week for my Firsties and me as well!  We finished up our book study of Charlotte's Web!  How fun was this to do with Firsties!!!!

After finishing the book and wrapping up our book study unit we watched the movie...the ORIGINAL movie!!!

They had so much fun!  It was like nothing I have ever experienced when watching a movie with kids!  When something happened in the movie that wasn't in the book they JUMPED ON IT!!!  Like the little gosling named Jeffery!  They were totally upset that he wasn't in the book so they could add him to their character list!  Then there was the end when Wilbur got his medal....in the book he fainted...in the movie..NOT SO MUCH!!! They were totally offended!!!  It was so cute!  All the way through the movie they were doing this!  So after the movie we did a little comparison activity.  Here is what they came up with!

Now...for a SHOUT OUT!!!!

Common Core Standards are not required in Texas where I teach!  However!  They are a great guideline along with our TEKS for standards that should be taught at each grade level!  I don't know if I like them or not due to some skills being left out of grade levels and others just moved later...for example time and money...something we teach in kindergarten isn't part of the kindergarten CCSS!  But where ever you fall on the CCSS love/hate pendulum...this amazing duo has got it going on!!!

These two have taken CCSS to a whole new level with their units!  I started using their units a few months back and now...well...I am ADDICTED!  I am able to cover just about every CCSS for literacy and math with these units!  They are well prepared...on target....GRADE LEVEL designed...and even holiday themed!!!  I am IN LOVE!!! I love how I can have the 2nd and 3rd grade levels of the same stories in the literacy and comprehension units!  I am using these IN CLASS whole group for Reading Comprehension review as well as in tutoring with a few students who we are trying to catch up!  They are just AMAZING!!!  You have to check them out!   Here are just a few of the units I own and their links!!! DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!

22 of my Firsties got the FRIDAY PENCIL PRIZE!!!!  They kept the same pencil  ALL WEEK and turned it in on FRIDAY!!!!  Here are their happy little faces!!!

  My goal...ALL 26 turn them in NEXT WEEK!!!
